No accounts. No subscriptions. No tracking. Just a daily prompt and ten minutes of focused writing.
Prompt Stash is a simple app that generates a daily prompt for a ten-minute object writing exercise, based on techniques in Pat Pattison’s book Writing Better Lyrics.
Fire up the app, press the big red button to see today’s prompt. A 10 minute timer will start and notify you when it’s finished with a gong or notification (if you are using another app).
If you’re interrupted, you can restart the exercise, but only once the current timer has expired and the green button appears.
Each day, a new prompt is selected from a library of 1,825 words, enough for around five years of daily practice. You can reset the prompts should you get to the point of having used them all.
You can have the timer active the entire time if you wish, or have the screen turn to black with just the timer showing, the timer and sense reminders, or just sense reminders showing.

On supported iPhones action button can be configured to open Prompt Stash instantly.
Prompt Stash is free because it is deliberately simple. It includes around five years of prompts, requires virtually no ongoing maintenance, and while I built the app (with some AI assistance), the underlying exercise owes a debt to the work and ideas of others.
There is no dedicated support. If you’d like to leave feedback or suggestions, please use the App Store review system.
